It is time to start thinking about Yule.

It’s slowly getting darker and soon the night will take over. Not that the day has been especially bright anyway but at least I could see longer than the light by my door shines. But the day has been rather nice, fairly warm and no wind. This is the time of year when I have to take all photographs I’ll show during the week at the weekends. It’s also the time of year when I have to find a photograph to make the Christmas card from.

I used to have photographs that had absolutely nothing to do with Christmas (that I still do though) but they were fun as well. I once had the inside of a street car and one time I had a very blurry photograph taken in a hotel room in Paris ๐Ÿ™‚ I just don’t seem to be able to take those any longer. If I try they just look boring, I have to admit that I had a better sence of humor as young ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

This was a rather stressing situation. cows without calves on one side of the road

and one bull on the other side of the road. The cows were very interested in us and so was the bull. I had four panicing dogs, they are afraid of cows, and then a car came and forced us down in to the ditch. I chosed the one closest to the bull ๐Ÿ™‚ This isn’t El Diabolo, I think it is his smaller brother El diabolic ๐Ÿ™‚

I used the latest camera on our afternoon walk today and I have to say that I am amazed over how good it actually is! The photographs are clear and sharp, almost better than my best camera gives?! It doesn’t matter what camera lens I use either, they still come out as sharp. Well it all depends on how dark it is outside of course, very dark and no photographs comes out really sharp since the camera concentrates on getting enough light for the photograph. But I’ll show You those later this week and I’ll tell You when.

I couldn’t remember what day it was today when I woke up this morning. At first I thought it might be Monday but I hadn’t set the alarm clock. That has happened before but since I always wake up early I get to work in time anyway. By the time I had let the dogs indoors again I thought it actually might be Monday ๐Ÿ™‚ I tried to wake up properly and started to think what tv programs I had watched yesterday. I remembered them all but then I couldn’t remember what day they are shown ๐Ÿ™‚ So I went to bed again thinking that if it actually was Monday they would call to ask why I hadn’t come to work ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

  2. hi christer! funny you said it is time to get ready for yule! i just decided today that i am going to do my outside decorating. i usually wait until thanksgiving but i have so much to do this year i think i will take down fall decorations and put up xmas. i need to get as much done ahead of time as i can. it is going to warm up a bit at the end of this week so i might start then! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!

I think many of us at least over here starts to think about yule now when it gets dark so early in the day. Many of us will put up the yule lights in trees and bushes now, I’ll do it next weekend I think. Very few have any other kind of decorations outside our houses here, a wreath and some planted pots. But there are a few that goes over the top and they usually ends up in the news ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Arctic winds will reach us in the middle of the week they say.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Christer,
You made me chuckle. That’s exactly how I figure out the day: what did I watch the night before. I do set the alarm on Saturday nights so I can be on time for Sunday breakfast so that is the day of the week I always know: the alarm is jarring when it wakes me up.

I was thinking about Christmas last night figuring it was time for me to make a list of what I have and what presents I need to get.

    Have a great Sunday!!

    • Hi Kat!

๐Ÿ™‚ I was so tired though that I couldn’t remember what they they showed those programs ๐Ÿ™‚

I won’t buy any presents but I’ll try and find some more lightchains to put together with the ones I already have.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer,
If I forget what day it is and can’t figure it out, I boot up the computer. It usually knows. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, that does look rather like an unwelcoming committee. Are they milk cows or meat cows? I ask because they seem to have some of that “What do you want, Human?” attitude that the meat cows at my old barn had. They were never handled except for shots and getting shot.

I’m not thinking about Christmas, yet. I have enough trouble putting away summer clothes, getting out winter clothes and taking down the Halloween decorations. Thanksgiving is next but I only have to show up for that one. It’s not one of my favorite holidays anyway.

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

At that time of the day I don’t even remember that I have a computer ๐Ÿ™‚ But I could have checked my mobile phone ๐Ÿ™‚

They are meat cows and they were just very curious, but if one decides to break through that thin fence I have no chance at all ๐Ÿ™‚ It didn’t help that there was a bull on the other side either, I didn’t know if the cows wanted to go over to him ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Well summer is long gone and we have no holidays at all after midsummer and before First of Advent. The darkness just forces us to think about Christmas and all the lights ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. beautiful dusky photos, night creeps in early for sure.I told you we were setting our clocks back last weekend but I was wrong , it was last night!!Now its dark so early, personally I love it, the sun makes me totally blind so I love a cloudy day.The cows making the dogs uneasy is so sad, you have enough of them around!

    • Hi Laurie!

Yes it does, it was dark already at 4:30 pm here and it will get worse I’m afraid.

I would love cloudy days too if I had that problem with my eyes, You should move here because it feels like it’s always cloudy here ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s actually good that the dogs are afraid of cows and that everyone knows it. We had big problems with two big black dogs chasing cows here last spring and since everyone knows my dogs are afraid of them they didn’t investigate them ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. Scary cows! I like your name for the smaller bull…though he still looks kind of big! Like these photos very much. I see Nova stretching her secure rope as far as possible, lol!
We set the clocks back an hour this weekend, so now the darkness will be much more noticeable earlier. My Yule planning is in beginning stages, though I won’t do any decorating till after our Thanksgiving, which is always the fourth Thursday in November. We may do the outside lights though because if it does snow, it will be too deep to get to our little trees (our little dwarf Albertas that you love so much).

    • Hi Robin!

Yes they were scary for a while ๐Ÿ™‚ and he is big but much smaller than El Diabolo ๐Ÿ™‚

It seems many of us is beginning our planes for yule now. It is a bit early to be honest but what else to do when it’s dark already at 4:30 pm.

      Yes I do have a special relationship to Alberta ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  7. I love the blue in the photos.
    I’d use the 3rd photo down for a Xmas card! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
no, seriously. I’d use one of the dogs with the cats in it too!
that should be an easy photo, right?
I refuse to think about Xmas yet.
    Not until after Thanksgiving.

    • Hi Cindi!

I really can’t stand that blue color ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ It says winter to me and that is one thing I don’t like ๐Ÿ™‚

We have no holiday to look forward to so many of us are thinking about yule now or at least the first of Advent.

That would be a way to easy photograph to take ๐Ÿ™‚ I need a bigger challange than that ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      • You folks need to find a November holiday to break up this long dark stretch.
You could celebrate Black Friday, the day after American Thanksgiving, when we are all supposed to go out and shop and put the merchants in the black for the fiscal year and us in the red with credit card debt. There’s something to look forward to. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€
