It’s here.

This has been a really slow day, I have had plenty to do and not much time to watch the clock but still it hasn’t moved. Big parts of the day I stood and painted by hand and when I do that I have no chance to talk to anybody else and every time I looked out the window I saw how much snow that was falling. By the time I came out after work my car was covered in at least 10 cm (5 inches) of snow and the road was awful. Thankfully almost everyone drove carefully except on the highway where some thought they could behave like they wanted to.

I stopped by the super market like always on Fridays and bought extra many fire logs and I also bought a Christmas calendar🙂 It’s a Tintin calendar (he’s huge over here) and every day hides a small piece of chocolate🙂 the roads were even worse when I drove homeward but the closer I got the less snow fell and had been falling so when I arrived here at home there wasn’t much on the ground at all🙂 Well, it’s still snowing so I better keep my hopes down🙂

To bad she couldn't keep her head still for just one second more :-) Her daughter came running shortly after this photo was taken.

I went to fill the bird feeders after our walk and almost walked straight in to Doris the doe🙂  She jumped away some few meters (the same in yards) and waited for me to fill the feeders. I know she will rob them as soon as she can so I tossed out some sunflower seeds by the crab apple tree. I didn’t think more of it until I had fed my dogs, Sune had just been out for a couple of seconds when I saw something move out there. It was Doris and, I think, her daughter, they were eating from the seeds by the tree🙂 I could see my neighbor watching from his kitchen window too🙂

Bertil wasn't allowed in the cottage yesterday because of his nasty ways. He behaved much nicer today though.

It’s time for something to eat and then I’ll watch Grimm at channel six🙂 I’m thinking of buying proper food for the deers, then they’ll stay closer to my cottage and when they do the hunters can’t shoot them, to many witnesses if they did🙂🙂🙂

  1. Good luck with the snow, Christer! Great Christmas-y/Jul/Yule photos of the deer and the lights in the tree.
The photo of the Bitter Bertil shows him in full grumpiness! Doesn’t look too lovable there!
Cedar waxwing in the tree, gorgeous!!!!

    • Hi Robin!

To bad it’s dark because I had to let the camera decide for how long the shutter should stay open, that’s why the photo is a bit blurry.
Yes that shows his true nature, that cat is almost pure evil🙂

The Waxvings comes here during winter, it’s much warmer here than in northern Siberia where it usually lives🙂🙂🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. such beautiful photos! Do they sell proper deer food where you live, I know they do here, quite a few people do feed them here, there are so many deer.Bertil looks disgusted with something!

    • Hi Laurie!

Yes they do so I’ll take that way home next week. We have so few deers here that I won’t mind sacrificing some of my plants, I know they’ll eat them both during the winter and spring🙂

He’s just as devilishly evil as always, something none of You never seems to believe when I tells You🙂🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

    • Hi Joyce!

I’ll do my best to send some snow to You🙂🙂🙂

But to be honest, I think she likes the sunflower seeds even more🙂🙂🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    Trevlig 1:a advent!
    Susie

    • Hejsan Susie!

      Trevilg advent!
      Christer.

    • Hi Deanna!

He is cute even if he is evil🙂

      I finally got lucky and got a couple of photographs of a fox🙂 I’m so glad I have a tele-photo lens now🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. Hi Christer,
Lovely photo of Doris the Doe in the snowy lamplight. Next year’s Yule card, perhaps.🙂
Here they sell cracked corn for deer or dried whole corn on the cob. Deer also love pumpkins which takes care of the Halloween decorations in some people’s yards.😀 Not mine though. The spawns of Satan got mine.
From this angle the lights look like the front end of a galloping boar that is running towards Doris. Head on top and extended foreleg below. I have a good imagination.😀
I think, but cannot tell for sure from your photo, that the waxwing is a Bohemian Waxwing which is found in Europe and Asia and not the North American Cedar Waxwing. They look similar except the Cedar is smaller and browner. I’m always surprised at how tiny they are because they have such big personalities.😀
It’s colder than normal here and mostly cloudy though the sun did come out for a couple of hours late in the day. Tomorrow they say there will be snow. After that it will be in the high 50’s until mid-week. Or so they say.😉
    Enjoy the evening.

    • Hi Caryn!

This photo is way to grainy to become a Christmas card. I realized that when I got the ones I ordered this time. That photo looks good here in the computer but not so good on the card.

I think they either sell oat and wheat for the deers here or some kind of pellet with other things mixed in to it. Corn would probably not work as well here since it doesn’t grow here, very few grow it as well. Here they eat anything that grows in the garden, even hellebores🙂

It could also be a galloping giant anteater with it’s rather pointy nose🙂🙂🙂

I’m pretty sure You’re right about the Waxving! These ones comes from north western Siberia so I don´t that it’s the Cedar one. One of my favorite birds🙂 Most smaller birds tends to avoid them and leave any tree these birds stop at.

They do tend to say so many things and rarely they are right🙂🙂🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. Christer,
I love the picture of the Doris the Doe in the lights. It’s like a Christmas card.

It’s cold here but no snow. Boston will have a couple of inches at most tomorrow, but here we’ll get rain. The next few days will stay cold, but it will warm up by Tuesday.

We haven’t seen the sun much in the last five days. I miss it.

    • Hi Kat!

Yes it has that christmasy feeling to it🙂

It will stay cold here now for at least one or two weeks, perhaps for the rest of the winter. It looks like we’ve gotten around 2-3 inches of snow so far and it will continue to snow a big part of the day. For some reason they usually predict bad weather very good🙂🙂🙂 We might get some sun tomorrow but I won’t hope for it🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  7. I’m starting here and reading backwards.
    Sorry about the snow😦
It’s supposed to go to 60 tomorrow.
LOVE the Doris photos, so pretty with the lights.
Bertil couldn’t have been THAT bad, could he?
Off to read other posts before this.
I’m very tired and might not comment on all but I’m reading them.🙂
This has been a really bad week, I won’t write about it here, too long but I blogged it.
    Take care, Cindi

    • Hi Cindi!

Well it is this time of the year so I really can’t do much about it🙂 I have to be happy about how long it took before it came🙂

Yes Bertil can and often is! Sometimes he makes Gremlins look nice and friendly🙂 He was half wild when he came here as a puppy and he ha stayed that way. His brother is just the opposite🙂

Some weeks just are like that. One can only hope that the next one will be better🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
