Blood on my floor.

We never reached -30 C (-22F ) but the temperature fell to -20 C (-4F) and that’s kind of cold too 🙂 But no wind and a rising sun made the morning walk rather nice. But I made the mistake to take my best camera together with the telephoto lens, the autofocus doesn’t work on the lens together with that camera. Normally that would be no problem but at those temperatures everything freeze 🙂 I had to hold my breath but still my glasses, the hole I see through the camera and the lcd screen froze 🙂 I had no idea what I photographed or how the photograph looked 🙂 🙂 🙂

But before we walked , actually not long after I woke up I hit my right little toe on a basket my cats sleep in, well they do sometimes anyway. It did hurt but I didn’t think much of it, not until I saw blood all over the floor. At first I thought one of the dogs had injured itself but then I realised that I had torn of the nail on my little toe 🙂 🙂 🙂 Strangely enough it doesn’t hurt that much, only when Sune steps on it which he seems to do rather often 🙂 🙂 🙂

My freezer has been filled with ice for some time now, it’s my own fault because I didn’t close the door, a couple of times actually, so the ice grew and it was time to do something about it. So since it was as cold as it was today I picked out everything in the freezer and placed it on my entrance door covered by a blanket. It seems to smell wonderful for my dogs so I can’t let them outside without keeping an eye on them, so I guess it will smell just as wonderful for foxes 🙂 It has taken all day to get that ice out of the freezer and now I’ve started it again. I better get that food in to the freezer again so I don’t star feeding any foxes. It’s quiet enough with my own pets, the birds and the deers 🙂

I have a pan on the stove with rice porridge in it. It will soon be ready to eat and after that I think I most likely will fall asleep in front of the tv 🙂 I doubt there’s anything worth watching, there seldom is. I remember when I was a kid, Fridays and Saturdays were the days that we knew would have the good programs. Today it seems they don’t have any good programs to show, ever.

      Christer.

  2. Oh wow! THAT is cold weather. Today we are supposed to have a high the 40’s but tomorrow a bad freeze is coming in and temps are going to drop to frigid conditions. I have lots to do today but I also rented 2 DVD’s from the library. one is “Raven” a story based on some of the writings of Egar Allen Poe and also “Hildalgo” an epic adventure about a “horse” race. 😀 😀 😀
That’s amazing that you didn’t know about your little toe! I did that once by ramming my little toe into the corner of a concrete step (I had sandals on) and I really FELT that!
But that title for your post was good and alarming! 😀 😀 😀 it made me read your blog first thing before all else (becasue I worry you know! 🙂 )

    • Hi Cindi!

It might be just as cold tonight again, if the clouds go away it most likely will be or even colder 🙂 I’ve brought in extra many fire logs today 🙂

I actually found two good nature programs so I’ve been watching those now. I have a couple of dvd’s but didn’t feel like watching a long movie today.

It didn’t hurt that much when I hit my toe, I guess the basket is to soft for that but I think loosing a nail would hurt much more though 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

  4. hi christer! i am waiting for the same cold air to move in. do you not have cable tv in sweden? we get so many channels here that one could just sit and watch tv all day. and lots of people do just that! stay warm! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!

I know You’ll like it if it gets that cold over at Yours 🙂

Yes we have and in places we don’t we have satellite dishes instead but I don’t think they show enough good programs to get it. Not especially expensive though. Besides, blogging takes just too much time 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. Hi Christer,
Blood on the floor sounded like someone was having a fight and lost badly.
Of course Sune is going to step on the one part of you that hurts most. It’s a rule. 🙂
I agree that there is nothing worth watching on TV on Friday or Saturday. Because our local football team is in the playoffs, there will be nothing on TV on Sunday, either. Even my old stand-bys, BookTV and CSPAN History TV have had nothing interesting, just reruns. I might have to resort to DVD’s.
The last photo is beautiful. Did you make it sepia or did low sunlight do that?
It finally got sunny here but it’s very windy and cold. Rocky is out on the sun-warmed porch again.
Time for some tea. Enjoy the rest of the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

I thought that one of the animals had injured itself. Orvar usually loose a claw every now and again. It never seems to bother him though, he just cleans it and leaves it alone 🙂

I actually found two good nature programs today but besides those there was nothing worth looking at.

It was the low sunlight that did that, I do like that photo a lot.

Clouds came and made me hope the night would be less cold but it seems we’ll get another just as or colder than the last one. I’ve brought more firelogs in to the cottage than I usually do just in case 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. thats a nasty injury, ouch! I hope it heals quickly. Beautiful photos today, the reflections in the water are so lovely, I’m drawn to reflections and love to paint them, its warmer here today, minus 21 celcius, regular heat wave, lol.Keep warm and enjoy your evening,

    • Hi Laurie!

It’s not that bad to be honest but Sune tends to step on it as often as he can 🙂

Much warmer here this morning, only -9 🙂
I love water and all that has to do with it, I only wish there were more around here in this area. I do miss the ocean from my old home town.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  7. You know what Christer? Every single photo today is a Blue-Ribbon prize winning photograph to me, absolutely amazing! I love how the light looks, the snow crystals are intricate and the water photos are vivid. The one with Sune standing in such an alert posture is definitely perfect. So enjoyable to look at. Thank you so much!
now about this “blood on the floor” title of today’s post. You gave me quite a fright, thinking all kinds of awful things! Keep a close eye on your toe, okay? Infection can happen quickly! Have a nice peaceful, unbloody rest of the weekend!!

    • Hi Robin!

Some are a bit blurry but that’s ok 🙂

I thought that headline would get some attention 🙂 The toe is quite ok but Sune tends to step on it as often as he can 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

    • Hi JD!
Well I need them at least when I’m walking around in my cottage 🙂

It doesn’t hurt unless Sune walks on my toe 🙂 but it feels a bit uncomfortable when having shoes on. Tomorrow at work will be a fun day walking around in shoes all day 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
