I don’t want to spend more than I really need.

It was much warmer, or should I say less cold today. We even got some sunshine but a nasty wind destroyed any kind of nice winter weather feeling. I had planned to take a long walk on the bog today but the wind made it shorter. It was fine as long as the trees took most of the wind though. I think we need one more week of cold weather until I can say it’s perfectly safe to walk there. Well I walk the same path every time I’m out there so I know where to walk without stepping down in to deep holes. They might not be so deep that risk drowning, but it’s pretty nasty cold in those holes now and it isn’t nice to walk wet in cold weather ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

A neighbor came yesterday and told me that there had been a meeting about us getting municipal water and sewer to the village. I have perfect water so I don’t feel that I need it but many in the village have not too good water so I can understand that they want it. But then I realized that it would cost somewhere between 150 000 Swedish kronor (21500 US dollars) to 300 000 ( 43 000) so I feel I don’t need it at allย and really don’t care about those neighbors that wants it. Well they need a new meeting with all us villagers when they know the actual cost and then most of us has to agree to get it before I need to worry. Some have more than one property in the village and their cost would be astronomical.

I guess You wonder about that woman and the stolen commuter rail? It turns out that she most likely didn’t steel it at all, in fact it was most likely an accident due to carelessness. The woman had cleaned the train and was going out through the drivers space. What she didn’t know was that the key to the engine still was placed in the console and that the gear was set to driving too. She had to push the seat towards what they call dead mans grip, the accelerator that goes back if the driver doesn’t push it forward. Unfortunately for her she then pushed that grip with the drivers chair’s back support to full speed when she tried to get outย and the train started to move.

It's quite easy to see where the old border of the nature reserv was :-) Today the reserv is much bigger.

I can imagine the panic she had when the train started to move without a driver in it. I’m not sure if I would have thought of the emergency brakes then. I do hope she will recover fully, she got badly injured when the train hit that house. It’s time to make some supper and then I’ll watch Ink Master on channel six.

A fallen tree stays so there are lots of places for leashed dogs to tangle themselves at and they do :-)

  1. Hรคr har det ocksรฅ varit “varmare” men med den vinden och det lite fuktiga vรคdret gick kylan rakt in i huset:( spelar ingen roll hur mycket vi eldade tyckte jag. 2. wow…that is a lot of kronors!!! how do they expect people to come up with that kind of money? that makes lots more sense about the train car being an accident than her actually stealing it.

    • Hi Joyce!

Yes it is! They expect us to go to the bank and ask for a loan. I’ll get one but that price is just insanely high!

Yes it does make more sense, poor woman! Just imagine how she felt when it started to move!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Hi Christer,
I misread the amount the first time and thought you wrote $215,000 USD. Aack! After that 21,500 seems a real bargain. ๐Ÿ™‚ If the village wants it, though, you will still have to pay, right?
I’m very happy to have town sewer and water. I remember when it got put in and my father was complaining about having to pay for the pipes that went by our property. Years later he was regretting that he hadn’t hooked up to it at that time because the cost of putting it into our house was even more. Shortsightedness: the bane of humans. ๐Ÿ™‚
It was sunny and very windy here but now it is cloudy and really very windy. Cold front coming through for next week, I guess. It figures that the only appointment I have next week will be on the coldest day of the season so far.
    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

In comparison that would be a bargain ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not sure if I need to pay anything if I don’t want to connect to the system, if I don’t connect the worst I would have to pay is the lower sum anf that’s nasty much for not getting anything. We have fantastic water here so I don’t feel the need to get the municipal water filled with chlorine. But they must start an economic assosiation before anyone can do anything.

Cloudy and some snowfall here today but we might get a clear night and then it will be nastyu cold again.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      • Christer, the seeds of the Seagrape came in the mail yesterday. I can’t put them where I want them because it still has snow cover and the creatures will eat whatever I scatter there. I was thinking to put them either in the refrigerator or in a dark corner of the unheated back hall (securely sealed away from mice of course). Is it too early to plant them?

      • You can place the seeds in a moist but not wet paper towel and then place the package in a plastic bag and place it in the fridge. The seeds will germinate after a month or so and then You most probably can plant them where You want them. Just be very careful with the root, if it breรกks the little seedling will die. The important thing is to sow them now and keep the temperature below 41F, You can also sow them in soil in a animal safe container and place it outdoors, cover the container with snow if You like so any animal will have problems finding it. Some will most likely germinate in warmer temperature too but most of them need those temperatures to germinate. It doesn’t matter if there’s light or not to be honest. So it’s not to early to sow sea holly now ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m glad they reached You, one never know with our postal services ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
        Christer.

  4. Good luck with the water/sewer situation; hopefully decisions won’t be made too quickly.
I am so sorry for the poor woman on the train; she must have really panicked. I hope her injuries heal soon. Seems rather unsafe to leave a train primed to take off!

    • Hi Robin!

First an economic assosiation has to be started before anyone can do anything. I’m not sure I have to pay anything if I don’t connect. But if I do and don’t connect I think it’s half the price I must pay anyway, lots of money for nothing but still not so expensive that I have to move.

Someone have messed it up really bad when it comes to that train! They are not allowed to leave the key in it when no one is there that can drive. Everything went wrong and she had to pay the price I’m afraid.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. Sad to read about the girl and the train. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Maybe you should forget that sewer and pack up your critters and move somewhere warmer!?
but you would miss Doris and the others…
How frustrating. when you were doing fine as is.
    Good Luck with that!

    • Hi Cindi!

Yes poor girl! But I think she will recover fully thankfully.

I never had any wish to get municipal water and sewer in the first place but some villagers wants it. I won’t stand in their way but I will never pay that much money for something I really don’t need! But I love this place with all my heart even if we have all these nasty flies during summer ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
