We’ll say no.

I’m late even if it isn’t Monday🙂 First I had to stay a bit longer at work, then I stopped by my neighbor with whom I share the water to pay for those things needed in the filter so we can drink our water without getting something extra we don’t want🙂 and we also talked about the municipal water and sewer proposal. We agreed that the price is insane and so do most others in this part of the village so we’ll say no thanks to it.

The price will most likely become even more expensive than what we’ve been told, more things like huge pumps to bring the sewer back to town will be needed and we must pay for those as well. I doubt that any bank would lend me more money than my little cottage is worth to be honest🙂

It’s cold and the night will be even colder. The fire is burning in my stove and I’m making rice porridge once again. I’ve read that before we got this kind of rice up here in the cold north they made white porridge, as they called it then, with wheat grains instead. I think I’ll try and buy some of that and try what it’s like. I think it did taste rather different but where to buy wheat grains? I think there’s something called food wheat grains in the super market and I wonder if that is the same as what they used back in the day to make this porridge.

It’s time to check make some tea and then see if the porridge is ready to eat. I’ll sit close to the stove today, its warm indoors but I sort of feel how cold it is outside inside my bones🙂

      Christer.

  2. I grew up with oat porridge, and later oat-bran porridge. Wheat might be groats or bulgar? When we lived in a small town our water and sewage costs were terrible because the town had put in water and sewer from a city. That little town will be paying for that system for generations!

    • Hi Lois!

From what I’ve read it should be grains, like the rice is. I really need to try it🙂

Most people tend to forget that after they have paid for the connection they have to continue to pay for all the water they use. This is usury and nothing else. Thankfully we in my part of the village have good water quality so we really don’t need to get connected to the municipal system.

      GHave a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Robin!

No this is just like rice porridge but made from wheat grains instead. I’ll buy some wheat grains if I remember it next time I’m at the super market.

The fire will keep on burning for quite some time and I’ll force the dogs to sleep close to me🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Hi Christer,
I’m guessing wheat grains means the actual wheat. Unprocessed. I haven’t used those in a long time but I used to cook with them a lot years ago.
It’s cold here, too. It’s going to get colder. I finally ventured out to pick up some things and fill the gas tank. Yeah. Cold. We’re back inside. Rocky is curled up on the couch and I have a cup of hot coffee. Much better. Spring! Where are you?😀
    Enjoy the evening.

    • Hi Caryn!

yes that’s what it means🙂 I know I’ve seen those at the super market but I’m not sure if they work for porridge. 1,4F here right now and it’s sinking rapidly.

Spring won’t come until April here so it’s no use wishing for it yeat🙂🙂

Hot cocoa is on the menue tonight🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. at first I thought you had made the photos black and white until I saw the bit of green.😀 the dogs are really enjoying the snow!
I must have missed a post, I will go back now and read about this water problem.

    • Hi Cindi!

The worl look very much made in black and white here now, especially when there’s lots of rime on the branches of the trees🙂

      They love this weather🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Jim!

Yes we are but it won’t arrive until April here, late if we’re unlucky🙂

I too wish that, they love this and could stay outdoors all day if I allowed them to🙂

It’s even colder today so I’ll sit just beside the stove all evening🙂

Have a great day my friend!
      Christer.

  5. i’m not ready for spring at all! i am loving this weather! i took the food to the shelter and that is not a good place to talk about how much i like winter!!! glad you aren’t paying for the new water system. it does not make sense. we might be i for a huge storm. i sure hope so!

    • Hi Joyce!

I am but it’s still a couple of months before its even worth longing for it here🙂
No I would be very quiet about liking winter close to the shelter🙂🙂🙂

1,4F here now and it’s sinking fast! You would love it🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. I certainly agree that the installation fees are extremely high. It is not unusual to pay for a system installation and then pay for the water used. Just saying. Surely there is another company that could do this project for less?

    • Hi JD!

Since it is municipal water and sewer we really can’t do anything about that price. But thankfully it isn’t something they can force on us if we don’t want it since it is a few villagers that asked for it. I’ll never pay that much money for something I really don’t need!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.
