Has the lynx been lucky?

I’ll start todays post by congratulating You from the USA, Your Tim Burke won the silver medal in ski biathlon minutes ago🙂 France won the gold medal and we Swedes won the bronze🙂

I looked out the kitchen window yesterday after giving the deers their food. I saw Tiny eating from one pile and to my surprise Doris eating from another. Lotta and the buck Rune were nowhere to see. I didn’t see any of those two the whole evening. Today Tiny came by herself and later on it looked like it was Doris that was here, it was a bit too dark to be sure. Something must have happened and I’m afraid that the lynx might have been successful yesterday night.

I got two letters filled with different seeds this week, lots of perennials and 111 magnolia seeds (Magnolia seboldii). A friend of mine started a Facebook page where anything is auctioned and all the money goes to a dog rescue center in Thailand. The good thing with this center is that they neuter street dogs and none of the rescued dogs are exported outside the country, that is something I really like, we’ve gotten some nasty diseases here in Sweden because corrupt vets has signed documents that the dogs coming here is 100% healthy without even seeing the dog even once.

My friend travels to Thailand every year and it’s the winner of the auction that puts the money in to the dog rescues account. So we all know that the money goes where it’s expected to. Of course we all want the things we bid on but since we want the rescue centre to get lots of money we do bid a bit higher than we usually would on the things we want🙂🙂🙂 But I have to say that 111 magnolia seeds would be much more expensive if I bought them from a seeds firm🙂🙂🙂

The fire is burning in the stove and I’m just about to make some rosehip soup. After that I think I’ll go to bed, I’ve been tired from the moment I woke up today🙂🙂🙂

      Christer.

  2. No, no, maybe Rune took Lotta away for a Valentine/Heart Day tryst!!! Let’s think positive thoughts.
111 magnolia seeds, good grief, that’s a lot of magnolias.
The photo of Nova with the snow on her nose is very funny!

    • Hi Robin!

I’m afraid I might be right. It’s after all not their season to be jolly yet🙂

Yes that’s a lot of magnolias if they all germinate🙂 But I have several friends that I’ll give them to -)

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Hi Christer,
Go USA! I have absolutely no interest in ski biathlon but hey… we’ll take all the medals we can get.😀

Perhaps Rune has taken Lotte for a private Valentine’s Day meal at one of the other fine deer restaurants in your neighborhood. It would be sad for the lynx to starve but he should have the grace to feed himself on unknown deer in the forest instead of deer we know.

It’s sunny and it feels warmer than it really is because there is little wind. I was walking around outside without a coat and felt very comfortable. Winter days like this are not to be wasted if at all possible.

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!
      🙂
I’m sorry but it’s not their season to be jolly yet so I’m afraid I might be right. The hunters haven’t left many deers to be fed on for a lynx so the ones it takes is most probably the ones I know.

Even though it is warmer here, just above 32F, I still can’t say that it’s watm🙂 Still long time till spring arrives here I’m afrais but it looks as if it will come earely to You.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      • Well, even though the flicker, the woodpeckers and the cardinals are singing territorial songs and I smelled a skunk and saw a turkey vulture the other day, I think spring may be dragging its feet. We’re due for more snow this weekend and it could be a bit of a nasty storm depending on how it pulls together. I’m hoping it comes down on the side of a dusting of snow and not a ton of snow.

      • But nothing says spring as the smell of skunk, does it🙂🙂🙂
It will be rather cold later next week but that’s just normal here. Even if it is cold now I still think it’s rather warm here for being februiary.
        Christer.

      Christer.

  5. hi christer! you look like you are still so much in winter and even with our bit of snow, it feels like spring! i guess it is time to think about planting for me!

    • HI Joyce!

I guess You’ll have an early spring and I can only hope we’ll get that too. Early spring here comes late in Mars so it’s still at least a month left.
I do hope You won’t see any stink bugs this year!

      have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. I know all about “the circle of life” and how the fittest and strongest survive,
but it still breaks my heart.
hey, could you post a link to that Facebook page?

    • Hi Cindi!

Yes we all do but I still don’t like it when it happens to animals I sort of know🙂

I’ll give You the link on FB, but it’s only in Swedish!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
