Springwinter.

As expected my car didn’t pass the vehicle inspection but it wasn’t the brake discs that was the problem. I don’t think he looked especially much on those to be honest. It was a thingy by the wheel that I can’t find the English name for. Not expensive though but they need to adjust the wheel after changing it so I will have to call a garage tomorrow. The brake discs will be changed anyway, they are a sorry sight for the eyes.

We could take our morning walk when the sun was about to rise since I didn't go to work before the car inspection today.

The night was cold enough to make rime appear.

Since I already was in Falköping I went to the post office to get my new drivers license. I opened the door at 10:01 and it turns out they close at 10:00. But the cashier was a friendly man so he gave me it anyway because they wouldn’t have opened again until 3pm. After that I drove to the store to get more deer food, the nights are nasty cold so they doo need some extra energy. So I didn’t arrive at work until half the day had passed 🙂

But it was a perfect springwinter day so I wish I had stayed at home all day instead. A springwinter day happens when it still is winter, the nights are usually nasty cold but the days are perfect. The sunshine is really warm and the snow melts on the roofs, the birds are singing and everything feels just perfect. I usually bring a thermos with cocoa or coffee and walks to the big stone at Stone Circle Hill close to my cottage. I lean towards the stone and just let the sun heat me up. To bad I had to work on a day like that.

Rune the buck arrived at my garden as soon as I had poured out the deer food. His bad eye looks very bad but the other is still fine. He seems to have a healthy appetite so I do hope he just has injured the eye and that it isn’t a sign of a bad infection. The eye started to look like this when I think the lynx maybe chased them, before that his eye looked just fine.

The fire is burning in the stove and I need to make me something to eat. No matter what I make I will have cocoa with it, after all I never got the chance to sit by the big stone to enjoy the perfect springwinter day 🙂

  1. hi christer! it sure still looks like winter at your place! it has just started to rain here and it is bone chilling damp. i have never liked cocoa. i guess it is tough to like cocoa if you don’t like chocolate! i hope rune’s eye will heal. and i hope you get another springwinter day soon! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!

Winter will continue for quite some time more here, but it’s days like these that keeps us san 🙂

I think it is impossible to like cocoa if You don’t like chocolate 🙂

It looks as if we’ll have plenty of springwinter days the coming week 🙂 It will snow on Saturday though and all of Mars can be cold and snowy too.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Dee!

I started to feed them because I didn’t wantb them to eat everything in my garden 🙂 Now I know them well and tries as good as I can to make them survive winter 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

    • Hi Jim!

I’m afraid that we most likely won’t get spring here until late April, Mars can be a nasty winter month up here in the north. But it’s sure nice when these days comes 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. Christer,
I’m glad you have a springlike day, but all that snow just still looks uninviting. Most of us disappeared when it rained except where there had been huge piles left by the plow.

Lots of birds at my feeder, maybe another sign of spring. I filled three of the feeders this morning and also filled a suet feeder. The birds were back at the feeders in a heartbeat.

    • Hi Kat!

Another one today and if they are right it will be like this over the weekend too but with some snowfall on Saturday. But Mars hasn’t even started so we can get plenty more of that white stuff I’m afraid.

Fewer birds by my feeders but I balem the sparrow hawk for that, it seems to have a way to healthy apetite for my birds. I’ve even had food left in one of the feeders lately!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Hi Christer –
It sounds like the car inspection is becoming quite a project. I never realized that so many parts of your car would be looked at. Here I have to go every 2 years to the Dept. of Environmental Quality where they only measure the amount of the emissions coming from the car. This testing is only done in the largest cities in the state – all 2 of them. The test is supposed to decrease pollution caused by vehicles. I think everyone should have to do the test since the air does not stay just in the city. Besides, I would like everyone to have to pay the crazy fees for the test to be done. Your test sounds like they look at many more parts of the car & can cost you a lot of $. I was glad to hear you got those tires replaced before they exploded while you were driving. I’ve had a defective tire blow up on the highway one time while I was going 65 miles per hour. It was scary & I still don’t know how I missed hitting anyone as I spun 360 degrees, went across all 3 lanes and ended up in the grass seperating the direction of traffic. When a cop stopped and came over to talk to me, he only complained that I could not legally stop on this side of the road. What an idiot. All I cared about was being alive. He made me drive the car, limping along on the wheel rim back across 3 lanes of speeding traffic. I would not care to repeat that experience.
I feel badly that Rune’s eye is not looking any better. Does Sweden have any government dept. that manages wildlife that might be of assistance? If they is any agency like that it would be ideal if they could tranquilize Rune and possibly treat his eye. The pics make me suspect that the eye is infected. These kind of animals can be injured by branches or by fights with other deer.. It can also be a problem with parasites. I do wish there was some way to help him. I am sure it is hard to see him like that and no be able to help.
Your photo of the full moon was wonderful. Well worth having to run out in your underwear in the freezing night.
    Take Care – Ellen

    • Hi Ellen!

Yes this year it was 🙂 They look at everything really, from safety and rust to the fumes. This year it will cost me quite a lot but it is still cheaper than buying a new car 🙂

I’m glad nothing worse happened to You! Things could have gone so much worse and I think over here they would have called an ambulance just in case one had gotten internal injuries. I think that policeman was a bit cold in that way.

No we don’t have anything like that. mostly it’s the hunters that trake care of things like that and decide whether the animal is too sick to carry on. Wer do however have licensed volunteers that can come if they believe they can do anything but I haven’t heard about any in this area. We’re actually forbidden by law to help injured animals here if we don’t take a special license. That had to do like that because too many “saved” young deers when their mothers were just around the corner. But to be honest, I do save an injured animal even if I don’t have that license 🙂 🙂 🙂

I do anything for You to get a good photo of the moon 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer,
It’s always something with cars, isn’t it. I hate inspection because I just know they are going to find something even if there isn’t something to find. 🙂

There’s more snow coming my way tomorrow. It figures as I have a very early doctor’s appointment with a new doctor at a new place. I’ll be finding my way in rush hour traffic and probably snow, too. 🙂

Love the photo of the icicles. It looks like a dragon smile. Not a very friendly one, either. 🙂
Sune and Nova look very playful in the snow. Wrestling and chasing is a great way to keep warm.

Enjoy your day and I hope the car gets straightened out for not too much money or time.

    • Hi Caryn!

Yes it is and I feel so nervous every time that my stomach usually stops working a couple of days before it is 🙂 🙂 🙂 But still I like that we have them and as long as the repåairs are cheaper every year than it is to buy a new car I’m happy 🙂

I hope You didn’t get caught in that snowstorm! Rush hour traffic here is like an early Sunday morning traffic in a big city 🙂 But I do remember how it was when I lived in Gothenburg. Now days when I go there I do anything I can to avoid it 🙂 🙂 .-)

That is a photo I like too 🙂

I was lucky when getting Sune here, he and Nove loves each other and can play all day. I haven’t heard them argue even once!

The car repares will cost way to much this time but hopefully I won’t have to think about repares any more this year 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.
