Steady she blows.

I’m not sure we’re having a storm but the wind is very strong today, we were supposed to get rain most part of the day too but so far it has only drizzled. It’s rather warm too so even if some trees are changing colors it still feel like summer, it wouldn’t if it had been a bit cooler.

I watched the second Jurassic park yesterday and I understand why it got so bad reviews🙂🙂 Lots of over acting and they did just everything one shouldn’t in a horror movie🙂🙂🙂 Despite they all knew they shouldn’t scream close to flesh-eating dinosaurs they all did. Despite they all knew they never should be alone, they constantly seemed to be just that🙂🙂🙂 It was actually so bad that it was hilarious🙂 I’ll see the third one next weekend so I’ll get a good laugh then too🙂

The deer hunting season started yesterday and in the beginning only bucks are allowed to be hunted. But so far none of our hunters have been out. Perhaps they think it’s too hot still? Too much flies can infect the meat while it’s hanging for some time. Perhaps they won’t hunt deers this year? I doubt it though.

I haven’t done much today either, the rest of the laundry, eaten the cobbler I finally made, taken a nap and watched some tv. I would like to take another nap but it’s working day tomorrow and I want to be able to fall asleep tonight🙂 It’s time to make a cup of coffee (I’m out of tea) and perhaps something to eat.

Some trees are going yellow now but I think it has more to do with the draught we had than that autumn is here.

  1. we watch the Jurrasic Park movies now and again but the first one was my favorite, you may like th third one though. The blue moth , is that Celastrina Argiolus ( Holly Blue)? they are lovely aren’t they.I love moths and enjoy painting them,

    • Hi Laurie!

Yes the first one is really good and a film I can see on and on again. This one too but for another reason🙂

I can’t say what species of butterfly that blue one is. We have several of them here in the country and they all look very similar. I love that blue color!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. hi christer! we need rain here too. though we had lots, now it is bone dry. i love the photo of the dog and the mushroom. is that nova? joyce

    • Hi Joyce!

The rain that come was just enough for the trees to survive, nothing more. They realy need more to get through the autumn and winter.

Yes that’s Nova🙂 She rarely eat apples but this one was probably very sweet🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. Hi Christer,

I don’t want to contemplate the start of deer hunting season in your area now that I “know” several of the deer that might be in the line of fire. Well, we shall see who comes out alive.

Climbing Monkshood is very weird looking.

It’s sort of an apple year here as well. The flowering crab apples by the lake are loaded with very tiny crab apples. I mean really, really tiny, maybe the size of blueberries. But they look just like regular apples with the red blush on them and all. I bit into one just to see what they were like. There are two seeds inside and they take up all the space. There was no apple flavor to speak of but the astringent quality that apples have was extremely apparent. I guess jelly can be made from them but it would require a lot of work and a lot of sugar.

Love the photo of Nova. I thought at first it was a tennis ball, though.🙂

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

That’s the problem by knowing deers🙂 I do hope that at least one eyed Rune and the new kid in town makes it. I think theyt will go after Longhorn since he has a tendency to attack all other deers.

The climbing monkshood has just started to open up, it will look a bit fifferent later on. It should be light purple they’ve told me.

Yes those small apples are usually really good for jelly. We have one wild species here and it’s so sour it’s impossible to eat as it is🙂 But is just delicious as jelly. Can be used instead of a lemon in other jams and jellies too.

That photo turned out rather well🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer, hope the peach cobbler turned out better than Grenville’s. the peaches have not done well in the orchard this year and the ones we have managed to salvage have not been sweet. There are some pears on the one tree, but they are still very hard and not sure what we will make with them if and when any ripen. I have never seen any of the Jurrasic Park films and have no plans to either. We don’t subscribe to any TV services, so never watch anything, but I do have a Netflix account for online streaming only (no DVDs mailed) and have been enjoying some older TV shows with NO commercials…yeah! Great shots of the moon and blue butterfly was beautiful…haven’t seen any like it here, closest is a sulphur.

    • Hi Beatrice!

Yes the cpobbler came out very well!

Everything is one month late here due to the late spring. Strange really that the hot summer hasn’t speeded it up anything. So the summer apples are ripening now and I have no idea when the winter apples will ripen, if at all. But tjose can be eaten anyway🙂

The first Jurrasic park film was really good! It’s so well done that even if one doesn’t like dinasours it’s still good. I mostly watch Swedish television, the public service channels and they don’t show commercials either🙂 I almost never see a fil on the commercial channels just because of all the commercials!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
