And there she was in the garage again.

Thankfully I always bring a camera with me, otherwise I wouldn't have had much to show today.

We didn’t take any walk when I came home from work today, the weather is sort of meh and I’m sort of meh too 🙂 We spent some time in the garden instead, Sune running like crazy, Orvar and Hector searching for edibles (which means anything disgusting 🙂 ) I picking up after them and Nova sitting on the entrance stairs watching out towards the sheep pasture.

I’m not sure what it was she was looking for, she can see the sheep from the dog yard all day, well that is if she doesn’t dig her way in to the garage (again!) and can’t go back 🙂 But something they aren’t used to is out there during nights, Orvar refused to go outside by himself again this morning. I doubt it’s a predator since the sheep are quiet. I guess it’s a troll if it isn’t a moose of course 🙂

I have picked nasty moose flies walking up my t-shirt while eating breakfast for two days now. That’s nothing I want to do to be honest. They land on either me or my dogs when we’re out walking and keeps calm until they think they have a chance to bite us. I guess that’s a reason why I didn’t feel like walking after work.

I have a fire burning in the stove and soon I’ll put the kettle on so I can have a pot of tea. I must eat something too but I haven’t decided what yet.

    • Hi Robin!

We haven’t had this much colors in years. To be honest I can’t remember when we last had it like this.

I guess it’s the smell of mice and voles in the garage that makes her want to get in there. She’s a formidable vole hunter so I hope she does some use while being there 🙂

The problems with trolls is that they seems to turn up only when the camera isn’t with me 🙂

      Have a great day!

  1. hi chister! nova must be on to something in the garage. maybe the mice are nesting for winter and she knows it? we are back to warmer weather with lots of sun. we are hardly having a fall which is very sad. our leaves are just beginning to change. watch out closely for those trolls! joyce

    • Hi Joyce!

I guess she wants herself a fat juicy vole or forest mice 🙂 I can’t have my car in there because mice eat all cables in the car 🙂 🙂

We’re heading towards colder weather again now, the sky is clear so I’ve put in the cable to the engine heater again. I’ll work some over time tomorrow so I really want a happy car 🙂

Yes trolls can be tricky 🙂 I think we might have passed one today because it smelled really bad, It was either a troll or wildhogs doing their business 🙂

      Have a great day!

    • Hi Laurie!

It’s strange, every time I’ve decided a new dog is going to move in I always say not a black and long haired again and it always seems to be a black and long haired one moving in anyway 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!

  3. Hi Christer,
I love it in autumn when the trees get all different colors mixed together like a tapestry that’s been flung over the hills.
The geranium is a surprise. I’ve never seen them turn like that. The fuchsia color on the stems is a lot like poke weed gets in the fall. Hot fuchsia stems, bright lime green leaves and dark purple berries.

Perhaps the only way to keep Nova from digging into the garage is to put chain link fencing along the garage wall and bury a foot a so of the chain link under the ground. That would be expensive.
You could put electric cattle wire along the base of the wall. Unpleasant but effective. We had to do that around a stall window and the overhanging roof because the horse in that stall was eating all the trim work.

Or you could make her a little door so she wouldn’t have to dig her way in to kill the voles but I suspect that digging her way in is half the fun. 🙂

It’s cool here today and it’s supposed to rain later this evening. It’s already clouding up.

Enjoy your tea and the rest of the evening. Hope you feel less meh tomorrow.

    • Hi Caryn!

This is the most colorful period of the year and I can’t but love it, even if it gets dark way to early now. Many geraniums change colors like that, not all though.

I have nothing dangerous in my garage so it really doesn’t matter if she digs her way in there. After all it’s better she digs that way than any other direction so she gets out of the dog yard 🙂 and like You I think the digging is just as important as getting in to the garage 🙂

Cool and sunny here today and an almost clear sky. Tonight I’ll be watching the stars 🙂
      No meh feeling today 🙂

      Have a great day!

  4. I agree with Joyce..Nova is onto something. I trust my dog more than I do any person when it comes to certain things. Especially since she can hear and smell things I cannot. I wish I had their senses sometimes. I haven’t lit the fireplace yet..but soon. Soon!
Your Fall colors are beautiful Wish we had some.
    Take care,

    • Hi Mona!

Yes I think she wants a fat, juicy vole to dinner 🙂

My work friends all think it’s hogs that walks around the cottage, many dogs don’t like them at all they say. But I’m still hoping it’s trolls 🙂

I’m just about to lit a fire in the stove, the night will be clear and most possibly cold.

      Have a great day!

  5. Christer, I think we need to borrow Sune if she is that great a vole hunter. Our lawn areas have such tunnel piles from things borrowing under the surface. As much as I stomp them down, new ones seem to appear, so the other day Grenville (Pat) drove the tractor over the front lawn area to hopefully crush them down. But, I suspect they will return. The back view of the portal was quite spectacular and your fall colors are great to see. Here. most of gthe leaves remain on the trees and so our fall colors may arrive in time for winter. We had a very warm and humit summer, but this week it’s been rain every day as if to make up for the lack all summer.

We have missed your comments on our blog. I checked to make sure there were not in the spam folder. Of course, I understand how hard it can be to post to your own blog and then gtry to post comments on other blogs. I too have been falling behind recently in leaving comments.

    • Hi Beatrice!

I have been comenting on Your blog almost every day!!?? Where have they gone? I epsecially enjoyed that end of the world profet’s home 🙂 🙂 🙂 Come to think of it, I haven’t gotten any message that my comment has been posted or is waiting for approval since You changed to the new comment box! I can’t say what’s wrong but I can tell You that I have posted a comment almost every day!

Sune is a good vole hunter but Nova is the expert 🙂 She never miss and she loves to eat them as well I’m afraid 🙂 A vole or mole will never go away just because one disturbes them by crushing those piles, You need tougher things to get rid of them, like dynamite 🙂

Warm and dry summer here and I guess that’s why we have such a colorful autumn. Normally we have cool and rainy and then sometimes trees never get the chance to change colors.

I hope we can solve my comment problems!

      Have a great day!
