It’s still better than snow.

It’s a grey and dismal day here but at least there’s no storm blowing, next storm will pass already early next week. The rain comes and goes but it’s mostly drizzle so it could be worse to be honest. But I’m planning to stay indoors most parts of the day and only go outside when the dogs wants to take a walk. I had planned to walk the road upstream towards the bog and little lake but I’m pretty sure the ground is a bit too soft after all that snow melted away.

I ordered my first seeds from Gardens North this morning. It’s the seed firm number one for us living is the growing zones 4-1 (American zones). The firm has high quality on all its seeds and I have never been disappointed when buying from GN. It’s Christmastime so I don’t expect any seeds to arrive before Christmas, in fact I think it¨’s best if they are sent to me after the holidays. I know from experience that lots of mail vanish on its way over the ocean this time of year.

Wild hogs had worked on the road during the night and Bertil was anything but pleased when we continued to walk towards the bog.

I really should be cleaning up this little cottage of mine but I just don’t have the energy, I’m blaming the dismal weather this time 🙂 But I have only one more working week this year and will have two weeks vacation during Christmas and New Year. I’ll start working again on January seventh.

Lots of activity outside even if the weather is rather dull today. One neighbor is cutting down a few trees, mostly birch for fire logs and he has plenty of friends with him as help it seems. I can hear hammer blows too so I guess another neighbor is outside working on his garage. He made it for two small tractors but it’s so big that I think he can place a small aeroplane in it 🙂

It’s time for a pot of tea and then I think I’ll watch a dvd or two. I have plenty I haven’t seen yet and since the weather will be much the same tomorrow as it is today I’ll most likely see some then too 🙂

Have a great day!

Here it is, my Yule tree. I still haven't found a long enough extension cord so no lights yet. The boumerang in the background will be removed and I'll have some decorating to do around the pot because that's just ugly even if it stands in an old antique potty :-) I'll show You how it looks when all that is done.

  1. Hi Christer,
I thought the boomerang was a nice touch. 🙂

We are awaiting snowmageddon. 🙂 I have an event to go to so I put Rocky in day care overnight just in case I can’t make it home. We shall see.

When I used to ride my horse through one of the reserves, I would see the paths torn up like your road. I thought it was kids on dirt bikes or 4 wheeled ATV’s hot rodding in the woods.
One day I was riding through there and came upon Mama pig and all her baby piglets rooting up the path. The farmer next to the reserve would let his pigs out to forage in there which was not legal.
I was not pleased and Mama pig was not pleased but my horse was really, really not pleased. He turned right around and headed back the opposite way. I have to say I didn’t disagree but he wasn’t supposed to do that until I told him to. 🙂

    Enjoy the day.

    • Hi Caryn!

I won’t go the Australian way this year 🙂

Snowmageddon is never a good thing, perfect that You can have him over night there!

Horses and pigs can’t stand each other, that’s why the wild hogs never came close to our cottages as long as my neighbor had his horses. Now they cme closer every month. Perhaps we should spread some fresh horse poop close to the forest?

Well if a horse decides to do something it’s hard to stiop such a big animal 🙂

      Have a great day!

It´s better than snow! 🙂 🙂

    • Hejsan Susie!

  3. I wish I could send you some snow,,, I really do, your tree is perfect, the ornaments are lovely and the boomarang is the best part! , Love all the mossy green photos, pure pleasure to my snow weary eyes!

    • Hi Laurie!

Well I don’t want Your snow so You can keep that for Your self 🙂 🙂 🙂 There’s a big chance we won’t get a white Christmas and that makes me so happy 🙂

I do like my Yule tree but I don’t think I’ll ever have a cyptress again, the twigs are just too weak.

      Have a great day!

  4. You are right, it looks dark and gloomy. Even Bertil looks like he thinks it’s dark and gloomy. Thanks again for taking that neat pic. of him. :):) AND IT’S A CLOSEUP! Love it!
I like your tree too. Nicely decorated. You did a good job. Will wait to see the finished product! 🙂
Stay cozy and warm. Happy Yule time to you Christer!

    • Hi Mona!

It was a perfect day to do nothing and today will be much the same 🙂 But I wouldn’t mind if thge sun showed itself for a few hours 🙂

It is a nice little Yule tree but the twigs are just too weak, even the straw figures were too heavy for it 🙂

      Have a great day!

    • Hi Cindi!

This was a perfect weekend for doing nothing 🙂 I think I needed a weekend like this after all that pain during last weekend and last week too.

I never feel bad for not accomplishing anything 🙂 We need to just stop doing things and relax more 🙂

      Have a great day!

  5. oh good! at least it is almost there. i sure hope it arrives in good shape this year. it is a big box! when you get it, you can open the wrapped box because most things inside of it are wrapped too. plus you should make sure nothing is broken! all we got from out storm was rain…bummer!

    • Hi Joyce!

It didn’t say anything about from where it comes but I saw the weight on it and understood it must come from You 🙂

I’ll open it as soon as I come home tomorrow to check if everything is ok, I’ll mail You as soon as I know.

So You only got rain. Why is it that we who don’t want snow gets it and You who wants it get rain 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
