She’s back again.

The roads were better this morning but it would be a lie to call them good. All slush had frozen and the entire road was more or less ice. So I started earlier than usual and drove rather slowly on the smaller roads. But when I came out on the big road it all looked better and I could see the plow lorry some distance away and thought it would be perfect staying behind it no matter how low it went.

For the first time I enjoyed driving again but then he suddenly turned in on a parking spot by the road to let the cars behind him pass! I didn’t want that!! But I really couldn’t just stop on a highway waiting for him to start driving again, especially since I had several cars behind me ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Thankfully I was more or less alone on the road when I turned in to the smaller road to work so I could slide around as much as I wanted ๐Ÿ™‚

The big road was very good on my way home though exceptย on a few places where snow drift had made it a butย too slippery. But I did have some problems on the smaller roads though. My cars wheels are tiny and got stuck in the tracks made by bigger cars while it still was a bit slushy on the roads. I couldn’t but follow then and had absolutely no idea where I would end up sometimes ๐Ÿ™‚ Luckily for me no car had slid of the road because I would have followedย without being able to do anything ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ This is the last winter I have winter tires without studs!

Lotta is back again ๐Ÿ™‚ But she has little energy, before she could chase any deer away from the food piles but she couldn’t today even if she tried very hard. Even Tiny stood up towards her. But she has no injuries and she’s alive and that is all that matters.

The fire is burning in the stove and soon I’ll make some hot sandwiches I think. No tea today, I have very little at home and this nasty winter weather sort of demands cocoa ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day!

  1. glad lotta is back but it sounds like she is weak. i am waiting for our snow to return. i am just about to head off to the shelter to deliver everything.

    • Hi Joyce!

Yes she seems weaker than usual. I guess she must have fled from the lynx or what ever it was that startled the deers and then she might have had problems finding food. This weather is really deer killer.

I can imagine how glad they become when they see You at the shelter ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. Det รคr tragiskt, men vรฅra hemska vintrar tar varje รฅr kรฅl pรฅ en massa vackra men svaga rรฅdjur! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
Man sandar knappt ens, bara i korsningar och pรฅ speciellt utsatta stรคllen!

Ja alltid lรคr man sig nรฅgot nytt ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I am glad Lotta is back, and by eating the food you put out for her, she will regain her strength.
A treacherous drive for you, yes definitely get the studs in the tires.
Snow, rain, sleet, temperatures rose to mid 30’s F now falling with heavy snow predicted tonight. May I please have a cup of your hot cocoa?

    • Hi Robin!

The roads were even worse today, the smaller ones that is because they had finally done something with the big ones. Even cars with studded tires had huge problems and we all just slid around on the road ๐Ÿ™‚ Well at least I wasn’t bored ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ll get it cold for a few days now but soon the mild temperatures comes back and makes the roads dangerous again!

Just pop over, I’ll make more cocoa ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer,
Sounds like another fun-filled commute to work. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m so happy I don’t have to go out in that stuff anymore.

Poor Lotte. I hope she gets her strength back. It’s hard for an animal to survive winter when it has depleted its fat stores. Maybe between you and the other two feeding stations she will manage to get some energy back. But she shouldn’t expend too much trying to run off the other deer.

It started out sunny this morning but the clouds moved in quickly. Rocky went off to spend the day with his dog friends and I tried to figure out what was wrong with my car’s front directional light. It stopped working so I bought a replacement bulb. While I was driving home with new bulb in the bag beside me, the old light started working again. Well, I’m prepared for when it stops next time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy the cocoa and the rest of your day.

    • Hi Caryn!

Oh yes, not a boring second and today the roads were even worse ๐Ÿ™‚ Even those with studded tires just slid around on them ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ I was truly happy when I finally reached my work place ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m pretty sure Lotta will be back to her normal strength unless she is sick of course. But they have plenty of food on our different properties.

That’s just typical with light bulbs ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Those things usually happens when one goes to a garage and as soon as an employee looks at the car it works just fine ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  5. A storm hit us pretty hard last night. Snow in the mountains…I need to take pictures before it all goes away.
Tore my patio all up…knocked things off my tables…
I’ll take the quiet soft snowfall instead of such savage rain and wind. Our storm is headed straight for Joyce and October Farm. Hits us just off the coast and then heads East gathering strength as it goes!

Just wanted to say that we thought the same thing once…get behind the snow plow and …so…we tried it and went sliding off the road hitting the opposite bank with a slam. Seems the snow plow is ok but leaves a sheet of ice behind it. Not good.
    Stay cozy, Christer. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Mona

    • Hi Mona!

I hope You took some photographs so I can see them in Your blog!

It’s usually the gusts that are the worst, they can knock down anything. I’m lucky here that most of the winds blowing here is taken by the forest or my neighbors cottage ๐Ÿ™‚
Even I must admit that a quiet snowfall is beautiful, I just wish it never landed on the ground ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes it is usually only ice left when the snow plows drive over the roads but in this case it was mostly ice anyway ๐Ÿ™‚ As long as its only the car that gets a bump I guess we all should be happy.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. Christer,
Lotta will get stronger. She just has to eat a bit more so she can bulk up enough to withstand the cold. Maybe she just hid out from the lynx.

Be careful driving to work. It sounds so treacherous. Nothing worse than losing control on ice. It makes you feels so helpless.

Enjoy the cocoa-it will make any night seem a bit better!

    • Hi Kat!

Yes she will unless she’s ill of course. But she jumps over the fence without any problems so I guess she just need food.
It could also be a dog on the loose. There are some hunters in the next hunting area that seems to let itvrun around as it wish now. They canme with their cars looking for it the other day and it was easy to hear where it was. That is something that really annoyes me!

I rather come late to work than not at all, so I drive very careful and slow ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  7. Hot chocolate is definitely better on a snowy cold night…on second thought, it’s just good ANYTIME, Christer. Glad you made it to and from work without any mishaps, other than the slow trip. I always used to prefer travelling behind larger trucks when I had to commute to work in snowy weather, luckily don’t have to do that anymore and it doesn’t snow much here.

    • Hi Beatrice!

You are so right ๐Ÿ™‚ Hot cocoa is perfect any day ๐Ÿ™‚

I rather come to work late than not at all ๐Ÿ™‚ But it seems they finally have understood that even the smaller roads need some kind of help now. There was gravel on the road today so it was much better driving home ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
