The hook is screwed into the ground.

It’s not that hot outside if I look at the thermometer but it’s really warm when I walk around in it 🙂 I’m sweating like a pig as soon as we are out moving around 🙂  But I’m not complaining, it’s summer and I love it. I’m tired and I have a headache, not only from the wound on my skull but also for sleeping too long and it is all Hector’s fault. He woke me up at four am and they all wanted to go outside.

No problem, I just opened the door and did other things while I waited for them to come in again. They all did except for Hector, once again he had jumped over to the neighbor and continued up the road. Well I really can’t yell at that hour but I sort of whispered yelled while I rapidly was walking up the road. It’s fun how a whisper yell can travel so far because suddenly he came running down towards me and then quickly inside the cottage.

We are not allowed to cut down the flowers in the ditches before they leaft their seeds if we want fundings for our roads. Many rare plants thrive in those places.

I got really angry at him this time and went back to bed and fell asleep again. I didn’t wake up until 8:30 again! I always get a headache when I sleep that many hours. The first thing I did when I woke up again was to go outside and put up hinders by the places where the hedge were a bit thinner and he could jump through it. That didn’t help much, just a few hours later he went away again 🙂 🙂 🙂

So now I’ve screwed down that hook I can hook a leash to and when I open the door next time (it’s closed now because of the flies) I’ll leash him to it with a long leash so that he can go inside if he so wish or just lay down in the shadow behind the cottage. I don’t think it’s fair on the other dogs to have it closed all day just because Hector have his mission in life 🙂 I need to buy new mosquito nets too because today several huge deer flies has flown in to my home. They were so big that if one compares to the dinosaurs these were twice the size of a Tyrannosaurus rex and more blood thirsty as well 🙂 🙂 🙂

It’s time for a pot of tea and then my dogs will get their dinner. This is a do nothing day since I woke up that late, I had decided to mow the lawn today but I’m on vacation so I can do it whenever I please.

Hare tail grass, I guess You'd rather call it bunny tail grass though. It's said to be rare but it grows everywhere here.

    • Hi Debby!

No not really, he’s just old and I guess in some mid life crisis 🙂 It used to be Orvar that walked around but he seems as happiest when he’s close to Sune now days.
      I will 🙂

      Have a great day!

  1. Wow, our dogs can certainly drive us crazy sometimes.
I’m always trying to figure out some new plan or scheme on how to do things for them or the cats.
    It can be exhausting.
Love the horse photo. I like the light color one on the right.
Sounds like you have REALLY big flies! 😀 😀 😀
I bought some “fly strips” to hang by the window by the back door and it seemed to help so I thought I’d hang one lower on the curtain bar halfway down. BIG mistake. My cat Harry caught it with his big fluffy tail and then he thought someone had a hold on him so he ran top speed through the house! Finally i caught him and had to cut that damn fly strip off of him and all the “sticky” that it left on him.
    Harry is NOT happy. 😦

    • Hi Cindi!

They sure can 🙂 The closest neighbors don’t mind him or his brother walking around here but I’m not sure about those further away. They do know who he is but that don’t mean they think it’s ok. I rarely have to think about my cats though, they come and go as they please 🙂

They are humungusly big! One just stuck to the sticky fly paper and it managed to get loose!!! It takes a really big and strong fly to do that but I killed it with bug spray instead. Flies are the only animals I just can’t stand!

I once did that misstake too 🙂 It took a long time to remove it from my old dog 🙂 🙂 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. wow.christer! what is up with hector? do you have any theories as to why he is hellbent of escaping? he never did this in the past did he? it’s so hard trying to figure out what they are thinking. hot as hell and humid here too. my worst kind of weather and it looks like it is here to stay. joyce

    • Hi Joyce!

I have no idea! Something up there must be soo interesting that he simply must go there as soon as he can. But he seemed happy when leashed so I’ll continue doing like that. It has always been Orvar running away to neighbors before, very rarely Hector.

It never was warm but it sure felt like it 🙂 We’ll get warmer weather tomorrow and a few days more.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer,
Screened windows are your friend. 🙂

It always surprises me that other modern countries don’t have screens in the windows. It would be impossible here what with mosquitoes, flies, bees, spawns of Satan, chipmunks, birds, neighborhood cats, raccoons etc.
Our wildlife is apparently far more willing to move in with us than yours is. 🙂

Poor Hector has gotten The Hook. It’s almost as embarrassing as the Cone of Shame. Where does he go when he wanders off so purposefully? Is there an interesting female somewhere up the road? Maybe Hector figures Orvar is in safe paws with Sune and that leaves him free to pursue his own interests.

Love the horses. Good shot of low flying crow.

Enjoy the rest of the day. Try not to think about mowing the grass. 🙂

    • Hi Caryn!

Yes they are 🙂 I just need mosquito net for the doors now, the windows still have from last year. Neither my dogs nor my cats reach to destroy those 🙂

Martens have a tendensy to move in to houses and they are almost impossible to get rid of I hear 🙂 But otherwise very few but bats move in to us.

Yes the HOOK! But he actually didn’t mind it that much, he sort of realised that this was for the best. But he’ll only be leashed to it when I’m not out with them. If I’m outside I’ll have him close to me all the time. I have no idea what it is that makes him run away like that. He does come back even if I don’t shout after him though but that can take its time 🙂 There’s no female in that part of the vollage so I don’t know what’s making him do this. Bull poop? but he doesn’t smell like that when coming home.

I had to brighten up the crow photo though, no time to adjust the camera 🙂

I won’t think about the grass at all 🙂

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
