I don’t mind as long as it isn’t snow.

It has been raining a big part of the day but I won’t complain. I’m happy as long as it isn’t snow πŸ™‚ The grass in the lawn had already started to grow so I guess this rain will make it explode in speed and soon I’ll need to bring out the lawn mower. I like my electric one that looks a bit like a formula one car, even if it has a cord and I need a few extension cords to reach everywhere in the garden and those places outside the garden that I also mow.

I came home to two dry dogs and two soaking wet ones. I can’t for my life understand why the old boys refuse to go inside the very big dog house when Β it rains or snows. The two smaller ones are in the garage, I just can’t stop Nova from digging her way in there πŸ™‚ Now she has realized that she can dig anywhere in there but so far she hasn’t understood to dig her way out πŸ™‚ If she ever managed to do that I know that she only will jump over the fence in to the garden. Well that is if she doesn’t see a hare because then she would try to catch it and after that she would jump in to the garden πŸ™‚

I’ve started to pour out the deer food outside my garden now and it looks as if they get the hint. There’s lots of food left the next day so today I won’t give them anything at all. I guess this means there’s enough for them in the fields now but of course it’s much easier to get that extra here every night πŸ™‚

We won’t have that many cranes at the same time by the lake this year, those coming here now just stays a few days and then they’re on their way again. There are so many cranes now days that they have a hard time finding a good nesting place, some even nests in bigger towns now. So the first one up is the one that can get the best spots for nesting. I think some of “our” cranes must have arrived now because I heard some this morning not far away.

It’s time for that pot of tea and a sandwich or two. All the animals have already had their food and now they are asleep all over the cottage, Bertil of course close to the stove like always and Sune just beside me here in the kitchen. It’s quite nice hearing snoring animals everywhere πŸ™‚

  1. Well that orchid is surely a bright spot in an otherwise dreary day! Very beautiful! Great pictures, so dark and brooding. I will keep several for my computer backgrounds. Thanks!

    • Hi Jim!

πŸ™‚ Yes rain is much etter than snow, I really don’t want winter to return again πŸ™‚

I’m glad You like them πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  2. Hi Christer,
Lovely orchid. I almost bought one recently but decided against it. The only things that live inside my house are Christmas cactus because they don’t mind not being watered for 5 or 6 months. πŸ™‚

I checked the mint. Not sure about it. Maybe it lived. There are some bulbs coming up over there. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinth and some other thing I don’t remember. Scilla? Siberica? S something.

There are a lot of red winged blackbirds in the yard today. All males. They must be passing through to better nesting grounds than my yard. They’re mixed in with the grackles, starlings and other blackbirds. Also all males. The females come later. They aren’t dumb. It’s cold up here.

Enjoy your tea and the evening.

    • Hi Caryn!

Orchids are almost as easy as the Christmas cactus πŸ™‚ They only need water once a month in winter and perhaps once every third week during summer πŸ™‚

Scilla sibirica? The little blue one I often show here? I have a bulb showing right now too and I can’t remember ever planting anything there before πŸ™‚ It’s usually a Jimson weed that grows there πŸ™‚

Lots of everything here now and this morning I heard the Blackbird singing and that always means spring to me πŸ™‚ But they tend to stay the winter now days, even the females.

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  3. hi christer! isn’t the sound of snoring animals just the best? i could kill my husband when he snores but when teddy snores, i relax and fall to sleep because i know she is safe and content. my husband on the other hand, snows just to piss me off! i am quite certain of that! we are going to get rain and high winds tomorrow. maybe even thunderstorms. we had snow late into march last year so i guess we could still see some. i wonder if you will get a late season storm? i saw that norway got a big dump of it yesterday.

    • Hi Joyce!

Yes it is but I had one dog that snored so loudly I had to wake her up sometimes πŸ™‚

      Your poor husband πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Strong winds and rain here today but only the winds stays until tomorrow. It is when the storms comes and never leaves that it is nice to have a bigger and heavier car πŸ™‚

It looks like the snow storms mostly goes further north here. The one hitting Norway did hit here too but wasn’t as bad as in Norway. Another one is on the way but it will go up north too, thankfully. But winter is far away from over here, it can last well in to May if we’re unlucky!

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

      Christer.

  5. It’s actually in the 40’s here today! and tomorrow they say maybe 60 and then after that it will drop to very cold for another week and then…maybe we are done? God, I hope so.
Blue snores sometimes and when he does, the other dogs stop what they are doing to look at him.
I think it scares them a little bit.
One time he snored so hard that his lips flapped, just like the dogs in cartoons! I tried to get it on video but he woke up. 😦
I just realized that I am going to have to buy a lawnmower this year.
I planted grass seed and it should come up if the mailman would stop walking on it! πŸ˜‰

    • Hi Cindi!

Well over here and it looks like it will stay around that for a while here. It doesn’t seem like winter will make a come back thankfully.

It could sound a bit like growling I guess πŸ™‚ My old Viran could also snore so loud that I had to wake her up in the middle of the night πŸ™‚

If You won’t have a big lawn why not buy an electric Flymo? It has a cord but just floats over bthe ground. I’ve had one and loved it.
You can always put up tripwires over the lawn, that should stop him πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.

  6. Yes! I’m planning on an electric lawnmower. I can’t stand the ones where you have to put gas in them and pull a cord. I used to have one and loved it.
I think I will put in some stakes and tie cord to it around the area. Hopefully that will work. πŸ˜‰

    • That’s the same reason I have my electric one πŸ™‚ They are so light and easy to move around. I didn’t buy a flymo this time because I needed a wider one and I’ve learned to keep the cord away from the mower while mowing πŸ™‚

  7. The pictures remind me of Oregon when I lived as a child. Taking someone from that sort of environment to a place where the trees are much fewer, a lot of buildings, traffic…I think it never gets out of ones system. I know it’s where I go for comfort. That is probably why I keep planting trees. πŸ™‚ It’s comforting for me to just see photo’s of them.
I have a little dog snoring under my chair this moment and it is a nice sound, isn’t it?

    • Hi Mona!

I think You’re right, it never gets out of the system πŸ™‚ I have it from the place we had our summer cottage πŸ™‚

That is a nice sound, the only problem is that I too want to sleep when I hear it πŸ™‚

      Have a great day!
      Christer.
